Hundewasserarbeit im ehemaligen Gasometer! Print

The gasometer (industrial monument now) that was discovered as a "diving paradise" by a dozen divers exactly 15 years ago, turns out to be a "waterdogs' paradise" on this special anniversary. Here the dogs group "Neufundländer WAG NRW" present their abilities and give different shows of waterwork tasks, either in the gasometer or the former sewage basin near by. Things like "rescuing" people, towing boats, bringing paddles to boats or life-belts to persons etc., exercises which are actually the same in water rescue. On a meadow close to the water "old and young" have the chance to get closer (eye or even skin) contact to the dogs and to learn how -step by step- they are playfully introduced to several exercises, until they can present them in a perfect way.

The gasometer is 13 m high and has a radius of 45 m. Up there the dogs are going to perform as well! But the only access they have is an open spiral steel staircase or a freight cage outside the wall! This cage may carry 500kg and is secured from all sides while being pulled up by a winch.

Bryana and her newfie friends mastered this "swaying sky tour" job with boldness and bravery! What an adventure! And then this (dungeon) feeling to swim in the dark gasometer with that strange acoustics! The dogs nearly burst with pride facing all the enthusiastic spectators and our adrenalin level wasn't even close to normal I bet!

Thanks to Claudia and Elmar from the local diving club who helped to make this event possible!
